Solutions for common questions and issues you may encounter while using AnsweredList.


I lost my data or reinstalled the app

All prayer data is stored locally on your device. AnsweredList does not sync to the cloud, so your iCloud or device backup is your safety net. If you have a recent backup, restore your device from that backup to recover your data. To prevent future data loss, make sure iCloud Backup is enabled (see “How do I back up my prayers?” below).


Reminders aren’t working

Try these steps to resolve notification issues:

  1. Make sure notifications are enabled for AnsweredList in your device Settings > Notifications > AnsweredList.
  2. Check that Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode is not blocking notifications.
  3. Try toggling the reminder off and back on in the app’s Settings screen.

Face ID or biometrics aren’t working for private prayers

Ensure that biometrics are set up on your device by going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode on older devices). If your device does not support biometrics, the private prayers feature will fall back to your device passcode instead.


Voice input isn’t working

Check that AnsweredList has microphone permission by going to your device Settings > AnsweredList > Microphone and making sure it is enabled. If you are in a noisy environment, try moving somewhere quieter. Voice input processes entirely on-device, so no internet connection is needed.


How do I back up my prayers?

Your prayers are included in your standard iCloud or device backup. To verify that iCloud Backup is enabled:

  1. Open Settings on your device.
  2. Tap your name at the top, then go to iCloud > iCloud Backup.
  3. Make sure iCloud Backup is turned on.

Back up regularly to ensure your prayer data is always protected.


The app is running slowly

Try closing and reopening the app. If you have a very large number of prayers, consider archiving prayers you no longer need in your active list. Archiving moves them out of your day-to-day view while preserving them for future reference.


How do I restore Premium on a new device?

Go to Settings > Restore Purchases. This will check with the App Store and restore your Premium subscription. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID that you originally used to purchase Premium.


I can’t find a specific prayer

Try these steps to locate your prayer:

  1. Search — Tap the search icon on the Prayers tab and search by title or description.
  2. Check category filters — If you have a category filter active, it may be hiding the prayer. Tap All to clear all filters and show every prayer.
  3. Check for private prayers — Private prayers are hidden by default. Tap the lock icon and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to reveal them.
