Prayer Groups let you pray with others. Create a group, invite members with a simple code, and share prayers so your community can lift them up together.
Group members can post updates on shared prayers, and the prayer author can mark them as answered — keeping everyone in the loop.
Premium is required to create groups and share prayers. Free users can join groups via invite and pray for shared prayers.
Getting Started
Creating a Group
To create a prayer group (Premium required):
- Open the Groups tab.
- Tap Create Group.
- Enter a group name and optional description.
- Your group is created and you become the Owner.
You’ll receive an 8-character invite code that you can share with others to join your group.
Joining a Group
To join an existing group:
- Get the invite code or link from a group member.
- Open the Groups tab and tap Join Group.
- Enter the invite code, or simply tap the invite link.
- Read and agree to the Group Covenant.
Group Covenant
When you join a group for the first time, you’ll be asked to agree to the Group Covenant. This is a commitment to treat all shared prayers as confidential and to support fellow group members with respect and care.
Sign-In Required
Group features require signing in with Apple or Google so that your identity can be associated with group membership and shared prayers. You can also join via an invite link anonymously and link your account to Apple or Google later.
Sharing Prayers
To share a prayer with your group (Premium required):
- Open a prayer’s detail screen.
- Tap Share to Group.
- Select which group(s) to share with.
- Review the full text of what will be shared in the confirmation dialog.
- Tap Share to confirm.
Important notes about sharing:
- Private prayers cannot be shared — prayers marked as private are excluded from group sharing entirely.
- Contact names are never shared — if a prayer is linked to a contact, the contact name is stripped before sharing to protect their privacy.
- Full-text review — you always see exactly what will be shared before confirming.
Group Updates
Any group member can post updates on a shared prayer. Updates keep the group informed about how God is working and encourage continued prayer.
- Tap a shared prayer in the group view to see its details and existing updates.
- Tap Add Update to post a new update visible to all group members.
- The prayer author sees updates from all groups on their personal prayer card.
Prayer Support
When viewing shared prayers in a group, you can tap Pray for this to let the author know you’ve prayed for them. This is a simple, encouraging way to support your group members.
Managing Your Group
Group Settings
Group owners and admins can access group settings to update the group name, description, and manage members.
Invite Codes
- Regenerate — Create a new invite code, invalidating the old one.
- Enable/Disable — Temporarily disable the invite code to prevent new members from joining.
Roles
- Owner — The group creator. Can manage all settings, promote members to admin, remove members, transfer ownership, or delete the group.
- Admin — Promoted by the owner. Can manage settings, invite codes, and remove members.
- Member — Joined via invite code. Can view shared prayers, post updates, and share their own prayers (Premium).
Member Management
Owners and admins can remove members from the group. Removed members lose access to all shared prayers in that group.
Transfer Ownership
The group owner can transfer ownership to another member, making them the new owner. This is useful if the original creator is stepping back from group leadership.
Leaving or Deleting a Group
Leaving a Group
You can leave a group at any time from the group settings. When you leave:
- You lose access to all shared prayers in that group.
- Prayers you shared remain visible to other group members.
- Your updates on other members’ prayers remain visible.
Deleting a Group
Only the group owner can delete a group. Deleting a group permanently removes all shared prayers, updates, and membership data for all members.
